The Youth Advisory Board (Y.A.B.) is a youth run board that’s main mission is to be the voice of the youth throughout the Choice program. We strive to ensure that the voice of the youth is heard and inspired through the Choice program.
Board Members
Cheykira Holland is the Youth Advisory Board Chair. She is currently in school for nursing at Baltimore City Community College. Cheykira likes to sail and loves to learn new things.
Kayla Warren works as a historian for the Youth Advisory Board. She goes to Morgan state university and she’s studying information systems. Kayla likes to be involved in the community and try different types of food!
Deja Pinkney works as an Secretary with the Youth Advisory Board. She graduated from Green Street Academy and is exploring to study IT. Deja likes to play basketball and eat great food!
Daria Baylis is a lover and a thinker. She’s had the privilege to create with young, gifted and black folks throughout Baltimore City. Previously, Daria worked with Wide Angle Youth Media, Patterson Park Public Charter School and Jubilee Arts. Most recently, Daria has become an Equity and Inclusion Trainer at The Choice program at UMBC. Daria believes that creative expression is how we foster authentic bonds and healing both in and outside of the classroom.
Zoe Brown works as an Education Coordinator with the Choice Program. She went to Goucher college for Peace Studies and is exploring Public Policy classes at UMBC. Zoe likes to swim and be outdoors!
Jada Sanders (she/her/hers) is a junior at UMBC studying political science. She works as an intern for UMBC’s Shriver Center and Choice Program’s Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation initiative. She loves to watch movies and try new restaurants.
