Why Serve?
“Serving gives you the opportunity to do something outside of yourself. It gives you a chance to learn more about the community you are apart of. Service is something that teaches you to be humble, gives you tougher skin and it feels good. It’s not always easy, but it is well worth it.”
What were you doing before Choice?
“I was in my first year of service with Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte. I was a construction crew leader building houses from the slab up, lol.”
Why did you decide to work with youth?
“I believe that youth are most impressionable and even though at times they seem to be stuck in their ways they aren’t. It just takes a special person to show they care and it changes the whole perspective of the way they see things.”
What advice would you give others considering taking on a Year of Service with The Choice Program?
“It’s a tough year but it has many rewards. Stick through it and the next job will be a piece of cake. There are so many pros and rewards with doing a year of service with Choice. The biggest one being the impact and impression you make on youth.”
